As a fellow clinician in the community, I know and see (even behind the scenes) that the founder of this practice genuinely cares about her community. She participates both professionally and on a volunteer basis in efforts to uplift the people around her. Kara has gone out of her way to take clients onto her caseload, even when it is a stretch. I especially appreciate the care, support, and validation she stands for within the LGBTQIA-2S+ community. Ancora initially did not take insurance for (very valid) philosophical reasons. Shifting their practice to meet the community where they are has allowed for more accessibility to care (which is sorely needed in general and especially in Hillsboro) for people seeking LGBTQIA-2S+ competent clinicians who will accept their insurance. Thank you, Kara, for all that you do. You make Hillsboro a better place to live and practice.

Although I have extended my healing journey with Amanda Curtis, I want to give thanks. I asked for her help after something bad happened to me, and I felt like I had no one to talk to or really trust. Ironically, one of the things I most appreciate about her is the fact that she will not blindly trust. So I perceive that as...Trust is earned. But don't get me wrong, she is easy to talk to, and uses her questions to dig deeper in the search for truth. I'm a little bit to handle. I can be very intense in my personality, and I highly doubt that her and I are very alike. And I say this, because I think it's important to know that the person doesn't have to be like you that you see, but they have to be willing to see you and who you are without judging. That's how I feel during our sessions. It's important to note that she likes to have a plan and or exit strategy for you when you are a client. She doesn't milk the clock or try to keep you around for no reason, her goal is to help you with whatever issues you're dealing with, and send you away with the tools so you can handle it on your own when you're ready. My business is not concluded with her, but I will update you when it is. So far so good! Thank you Amanda for what you do, and for what you represent in the industry. We need more people like you handling our care... If it's possible to bestow wisdom in my position, I'm gonna try. I don't think that getting help is for the weak. Everyone needs an unbiased perspective in their life, someone to help you sift through the madness to find the light at whatever that may be. Remember, the journey is the gift... and without struggle, there is no journey. Without struggle, there is no gift. So good luck on your journey.

Sometimes you just need a neutral 3rd party to hear your story and give positive feedback. I go in occasionally for a massage for my brain, I think a lot and sometimes those thoughts need to put in perspective. I have also had help with goals I have and dreams and getting those dreams on a goal list. I take time to get my nails done, my brain deserves a spa day too. I highly recommend Ancora Thereapy all of their Councelors are highly trained professionals that are also live, work and volunteer in our community.
